A great example of thinking “Outside of the Box” Solutions! St. Vincent de Paul of Lane County is now selling The Pinecone ADU according to an article in the Register Guard! One of the most exciting aspects of this endeavor is that the manufacturing side of these ADU’s is done by HOPE Community Homes and their Hope Factory students.

We build futures / Hope Community Homes!

In a one-of-a-kind program nationally, through our HOPE Factory program, HOPE partners with Lane Education Service District and Lane Career Technical Education to help high school students from 16 school districts transform their passions into real careers in the trades through training in our onsite HOPE Factory. 

One part education, one part industry-recognized credentials, and one part community impact-driven experience, HOPE Factory students experience firsthand what it is like to work alongside industry professionals.  

Since 2024, through Lane Career Academy’s HOPE Factory, over 100 students: 

• Attended high-quality, hands-on classes linked to career pathways. 
• Learned valuable vocational trade skills such as welding, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and manufacturing. 
• Earned high school/college credit, BOLI Pre-Apprenticeship Certification, OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and NCCER credentials, all in a real-world factory setting. 
• Gained real-world experience with local employers that boost graduation rates, achievement, and career success.

Hope Community Homes estimate that 20% of the hands-on work on the homes, including welding, carpentry, electrical and plumbing, are completed by these outstanding HOPE Factory students. Their hands-on work has further expanded as HOPE has hired students full-time after graduating and completing the program.

Visitors to the St. Vincent de Paul’s 2890 Chad Drive campus may have noticed the manufactured home staged in the back of the parking lot. This is the Pinecone model from partner organization HOPE Community Homes and it is currently available for purchase! A HOPE representative will be onsite at our 2890 Chad Drive location from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. every Wednesday to answer questions and lead tours of the home, and otherwise available on request by calling 541-852-7806. Due The Pinecone’s humble size it is considered an accessory dwelling unit (ADU), slightly larger than a “tiny home”.
